Intel Engage: Math Hopscotch

I just got finished painting some new hopscotch patterns for our local elementary school. Basically, it's the same hopscotch you remember playing as when you were a kid, but this has the added element of learning your multiplication tables when playing. I uploaded a file (PDF) in the file repository for anyone that's interested in the template.

It's basically a large grid, and you set down painter's tape to make the squares. Once it's all done, you pull up the tape and you have 8 hopscotch sets, one for each number, from 2 to 9.

It was pretty cool to paint it over the weekend and see the kids playing on it immediately on Monday afterwards. I understand there's some sort of lesson plan that goes with it but to be honest it seems pretty self-explanatory!

PS - This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for your local PTA. A lot of times parents are looking for a "mini-project" that does not involve recurring meetings, etc...
